John Sidney McCain II was born August 29, 1936 at the Coco solo Navel Air station in Panama. His father, John S. McCain became a four star United Sates Navy admiral. Following in his footsteps McCain became a naval pilot in 1960. In 1965 married Carol Shepp. They and a daughter, Sidney, and adopted two boys, Douglas and Andrew. In 1979 he divorced Shepp and met Cindy Lou Hensley. On April 1st 1981, McCain officially retired from the NAVY for good. In 1983 McCain was elected to lead the incoming group of republican representatives. On September 27, 1999 he announced his candidacy for President, but lost the primary to George W. Bush. Now he is the official candidate for the Republican Party for the 2008 election.
